Position: Manages the computer operations within the data center. Manages daily activities to resolve problems and change management issues. Responsible for production systems' online response time. Maintains system availability, prepares metrics to evaluate systems performance, and works with IT groups and users to ensure that service objectives are met.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintains system configurations
  • Maintains equipment maintenance schedules
  • Maintains system access and control procedures
  • Manages system performance, taking action as appropriate
  • Writes standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintains content of current documentation for data center and system operations
  • Maintains historical records for data center services
  • Participates in the development and testing of plans to continue information systems functions in the event of interrupt to normal computer operations
  • Participates in development and periodic testing of security processes as they relate to the Data Center
  • Researches, evaluates, and makes recommendations concerning new third-party products or industry trends which are related to data center operations
  • Provides constructive feedback and commitment to continuous improvement in client-wide quality initiatives
  • Provides support and consultative services to the end-user community in response to service requests
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and coordination with Data Center Manager
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Data Center Technician experience
  • Understanding of storage devices (NetAPP a plus)
  • Understanding of cloud or offsite storage
  • DELL Blade Server experience
  • Microsoft Windows Server experience
  • Understanding of Virtual Environments (Hyper-V a plus)
  • Routing and Switching skills
  • Understanding of Database (SQL / MYSQL a plus)
  • Experience with Kaseya

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Knowledge in PC and Network Operating systems
