Johonna Gilbreath Asquith, MD, comes to Access Health Care Physicians directly from completing a Fellowship in infectious disease at the University of South Florida, Tampa. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, as well as two years of an anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Ohio State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a biology major from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and a medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. Prior to attending medical school, she also worked as a nurse at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dr. Asquith is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is ACLS and BLS certified. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
During her pathology residency at Oho State University, she was recognized with the Autopsy Resident of the Year award in 2013. Dr. Asquith is the author of several presentations and research studies. She is particularly interested in quality improvement, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection prevention.
She is married with two children and enjoys spending time with family, cooking, gardening, scrapbooking and singing.
