Luis A. Jovel, MD has practiced family medicine in St. Petersburg since 2001. Dr. Jovel completed residency in family medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where he was privileged to be appointed Chief Resident from 1991 to 1992. He served a rotation internship in internal medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, emergency and critical care at the American British Cowdray Hospital in Mexico City, Mexico. Dr. Jovel received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara, Guadlajara, Mexico where he achieved a GPA of 9.6 out of 10.0. In addition, Dr. Jovel received a Master of Science degree in biology and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, where he was also the recipient of the Youngstown Education Foundation scholarship. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. Dr. Jovel enjoys traveling and reading.
